Health Claims Affecting Consumer Decisions and New Product Development

The European Nutrition and Health Claim Regulation (NHCR) entered into force in 2007. In 2012, 222 health claims were allowed for use on labels of food products. What are the (perceived) consequences of the NHCR on developments in the market and does the regulation stimulate healthy food choices? Within this presentation, the effects of this regulation on both the food industry and consumers will be discussed.
